Welcome to the Wachau
Spitz: This is the Wachau, front row seats. And Haus Oestreicher has a very special spot in it: between the Danube and the Tausendeimerberg, one of the best vineyard sites in the Wachau. The roll ferry, train station, bus stop and boat landing stage are just a few minutes’ walk away.
Spend your short break or family holiday with us. Feel free to include us on your cycling tour, too. Up to 34 e-bikes can charge here at the same time. And there are charging stations very close by for your electric car!
Our 22 comfortable double and triple rooms are spread across two buildings and two floors and are also ideal for larger groups.

We love our guests: those who simply enjoy the peace and quiet just as much as those who like to chat and share a laugh with us. Everyone feels at ease at Haus Oestreicher. That’s probably why we have so many regulars — some of whom have been coming to us for generations.
We want to offer you the real Wachau. That means we don’t chase every trend, and we often see things a little differently. Here, as we say in Austria, the banter flows — and we take caring for our guests very personally, in the truest sense of the word.
Family is our source of strength — and that includes a little chaos as well as lots of love.
Sticking together, helping each other, and being able to rely on one another: everyone lends a hand at Haus Oestreicher, but really we’re a proper women’s household! Great-grandma Berta opened our family-run bed and breakfast in 1955, and from then on it was always the women of the family who carried on the legacy: Gertraud, Waltraud, and now, in the fourth generation, Claudia.
All of us together have been — and still are — hosts with heart and soul. We do our very best to make sure you feel completely comfortable and can enjoy your stay to the fullest! Do drop by when you come to the Wachau!

Cancellations are free of charge up to 4 weeks before arrival; up to 10 days before arrival we charge 50%, up to 3 days 70%, and under 3 days 100% of the total price.

Moving moments
Cyclists and mountain bikers appreciate our bed and breakfast because we’re right on the cycle path and very close to varied MTB trails. But also because of the sports shop located in the building and our bike garage with a charging station for up to 34 e-bikes.
If you love hiking, you’ll find a wonderfully developed network of trails around Spitz: the World Heritage Trail, the Marivino Panorama Trail, various children’s hiking paths, vineyard walks with wine tastings, and much more.
Highlights & insider tips
Our region is rich in cultural and tourist highlights: Melk Abbey, Artstetten Castle, the towns of Krems and St. Pölten with their cultural offerings, and last but not least our beautiful Shipping Museum in Spitz are already waiting for you.
There’s also plenty to discover in the Waldviertel, in the Kamptal and along the Danube. We have more than a few insider tips for you.
Of course, we also know the local wine taverns (Heurigen) here, and many other places to eat in and around Spitz. Do you need a recommendation?

Our Wachau: a World Heritage Site and a feel-good landscape. The Danube Valley between Melk and Krems: do you love it already, or are you about to fall in love?
Spring, summer and autumn are truly unique here. We celebrate and experience it together with our guests at the Wine Spring, the Midsummer Festival, the Apricot Fair, the Harvest Thanksgiving Festival, or the Wine Autumn.
And that’s why we open every year in April, when the apricot blossom turns the Wachau into a sea of pink and white blossoms.
After the joys of summer and the golden autumn, when nature withdraws for a few months, we do the same: we find peace and time for ourselves. We strengthen our roots, just as the vines do outside. So that soon after, we can look forward to the start of the season and our lovely guests again. What a wonderful cycle of the seasons.
